Relying on big data, Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) -- located in Guiyang, capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has established the province's first major digital project management platform.

The platform divides the four key phases in the development process of a new project -- the raising of investment funds, groundbreaking, completion of construction and the start of operations or production -- and reassembles them into 11 core steps, for a total of 112 separate digital processing nodes.

To date, the GETDZ's 103 major projects this year have all been listed on the platform.

On the platform, nodes such as a project's delivery, storage and start of construction are all marked with different colors to reflect the progress of a project in real time.

Among these, a green indicator indicates a project is progressing normally, a blue indicator signals  that a project is being processed, while a red indicator indicates that there are some problems.

In addition to supporting investment promotions and construction site selection, the platform can also provide decision-making references to optimize a project's layout and achieve high-quality development.

The digital project management platform was selected as an outstanding example in Guizhou province of comprehensively deepening reforms in 2020.

From January to February this year, the GETDZ's total fixed asset investments increased by 149.5 percent year-on-year.

Plans are for 18 major provincial and municipal projects to start construction in 2021 and the construction of six projects has already been started ahead of schedule.
