GETDZ adds more sci-tech firms during 13th Five-Year Plan period

During the 13th Five-Year Plan period (2016-20), the number of science and technology innovation enterprises in Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) -- in Guiyang, capital of Southwest China's Guizhou province -- has expanded considerably.

The number of high-tech enterprises increased from 41 in 2016 to 95 in 2019, with an average annual growth rate of 34 percent, according to local media reports on Oct 20.

During the period, the GETDZ has issued policies to create a good innovation and entrepreneurship environment for business.

In terms of guiding the innovation and development of market entities, from 2016 to 2019 financial investment in science and technology in the zone reached 380 million yuan, experiencing an average annual increase of 37.54 percent.

Currently, there are 63 sci-tech innovation platforms at or above the provincial level in the zone, five of which are at the national level.

From 2016 to August 2020, resident companies filed 5,218 patent applications and 2,920 patent authorizations in the zone, with 594 valid invention patents and two patent cooperation treaty applications received there.

Business environment for innovation and entrepreneurship have been optimized, creating an innovation and entrepreneurship incubation ecosystem dominated by "internet+incubation innovation".

In addition, the zone's sci-tech financial service system has been gradually improved and an industrial financial platform has been built to strengthen financial guarantees for the development of sci-tech innovation.
