Major Inspur production facility breaks ground at GETDZ

A new big data industrial park consisting of manufacturing plants with support facilities for Inspur Group -- China's leading cloud computing, big data services provider -- recently broke ground in the Guiyang Economic and Technological Development Zone (GETDZ) in Guiyang, the capital city of Southwest China's Guizhou province, according to local media reports on April 3.

With a total investment of 9 billion yuan ($1.27 billion), the production hub will be one of Inspur’s three major industrial bases in China, GEDTZ officials said.

The industrial park is an important springboard for Inspur's expansion into the west of China, GETDZ officials said. The first phase of the project is expected to be completed in May this year, covering an area of 49,000 square meters.

The main elements of the project include production plants, a server production line, office and living facilities, roads, a pipeline network and related support facilities.

After going into production, the plants will produce general tower, rack, and multi-node blade systems, cabinet servers as well as small computers, AI servers, safe and reliable servers.

Officials said this will lead to server-related support industries settling in Guiyang. It is estimated that these related industries will generate about 3 billion-yuan worth of output annually and create over 1,500 job positions.

According to zone officials, when things normalize on the novel coronavirus front, Guiyang -- in accordance with the requirements of the city's "one project, one policy" -- has urged resident companies to increase the number of projects worth 100 million yuan or more, while taking care with epidemic prevention and control.

They said the rapid development and achievements of the Guizhou big data industry attracted Inspur Group to Guiyang and the good environment is also giving enterprises great confidence in future developments there.
